Max Performance in Focus: CharIN Testival Europe Recap

Over three intense days of live testing and deep technical exchange, our team (Michał Czech, Mikko Summala, Michał Mandrysz and Michał Zawisza) took part in CharIN Testival Europe — one of the key industry events focused on EV interoperability.
Testing in Action: From Prototypes to Real-World Readiness
At the heart of the event was hands-on testing — not only with production-ready chargers and vehicles but also with development prototypes. We put our systems to work across a wide spectrum of EVs and eHGVs, evaluating charging behavior, data communication, and real-time system responses.
From communication controllers to charging stations and backend platforms, the testing environment offered concrete data on system behavior under different communication and vehicle conditions. It was a unique chance to engage directly with future-proof standards and protocols — including ISO 15118-2 and -20, TLS 1.2/1.3, and Plug & Charge capabilities.

Collaboration Across Borders
One of the most valuable aspects of the Testival was the cross-industry and international collaboration. We exchanged ideas and best practices with diverse engineering teams, gaining a better understanding of different testing methodologies, protocols, and toolkits from around the globe.

Accelerating Innovation Together
Beyond the technical takeaways, CharIN Testival is a place where the industry’s shared commitment to advancing EV charging truly comes alive. Conversations went deep — not just about specs and standards, but about solving tomorrow’s challenges together.
We’re heading back with:
- Fresh insights into the future of secure communication and interoperability.
- Improvements to our own Amber II and HAWKe solutions.
- New partnerships that will help us move even faster.
Taking part in the CharIN Testival gave us a close-up look at the challenges of making different EV charging systems work together. The team saw a wide range of test cases — some of which led our team to spend hours adjusting code on the spot to keep things running properly. The event also confirmed that practice makes perfect and after a few tweaks we made our system more reliable. It was a great reminder that hands-on experience beats theory every time. We left the event even more confident in what we’ve built — and even more motivated to keep pushing forward, testing and improving.
